As part of Trinity College’s Art + Feminism CT virtual event, Ariella Rotramel will lead a workshop on Wikipedia editing this Thursday, March 25, from 1:00-2:00pm. The description and link registration is below – all are welcome!
While some educators view citations from Wikipedia with suspicion, an increasing amount of faculty are incorporating Wikipedia editing into their classes. Wikipedia editing invites students to research and write for the public as scholars while exploring the politics of knowledge creation itself.
This workshop will offer lessons on how to incorporate Wikipedia into instruction as a form of open pedagogy. It will also offer points of connection for faculty and collections specialists from museums and archives interested in incorporating collections into classrooms. Attendees will leave the workshop with knowledge of how to set up a wiki education dashboard for class use and with greater connections with area archives and museums with collections desirable for use as teaching resources.
For archivists, librarians, and museum collection specialists, this workshop offers ideas for public programming and engagement, and offers opportunities to meet faculty potentially interested in collaborating on lessons incorporating collection materials.
