Social annotation improves reading proficiency and critical thinking skills
Hypothesis is a collaborative annotation tool that can be added as an activity to your Moodle site. It is a great way to engage students, turning any PDF or online article into a collaborative learning experience. Social annotation holds students accountable and pushes them to read closely, thoroughly, and thoughtfully. Use Hypothesis to help students comprehend and analyze scholarly texts.
New Hypothesis Features
Exporting and Importing Annotations: You can now carry over existing annotations on Hypothesis-enabled readings when using Moodle’s course copy function. This means less setup time when preparing for new semesters.
Moodle Groups: Enhance collaboration in your classes by utilizing Moodle course groups to create small group annotation spaces within your Hypothesis-enabled readings.
Moodle Files: Easily add social annotations to PDFs you’ve uploaded to your Moodle course . This feature is perfect for engaging students directly on lecture notes and research papers without the need to store those files in your Google Drive.
Annotating YouTube video transcripts: Add a YouTube URL to Moodle and enable Hypothesis. When the Hypothesis assignment launches, you will see the YouTube video, the transcript, and the Hypothesis sidebar. Students can select text anywhere in the transcript to create a new annotation or highlight.
