There are many ways to provide content and continue engaging with your students even if you are not meeting in a classroom. See below for a few of our favorites:
- Record mini-lectures or a full lecture. This can be so easy and done on the fly! Technologies we recommend are Kaltura Capture, PowerPoint (Insert Audio or Record Presentation), QuickTime audio/screen capture, Screencastify, and whiteboard apps such as Educreations. Upload videos to Moodle using the Kaltura Video Resource.
- Engage students with multimedia. Ask students to submit video reflections or responses using Flipgrid, Voicethread, or Thinglink. Ask them to brainstorm collaboratively in a Padlet.
- Collectively annotate and discuss a reading. Use Hypothesis in Moodle to annotate and discuss a reading together as a class or in small groups.
- Hold discussion, collect responses, and continue group work. Students can participate in asynchronous discussion and participate in group projects. Use a Moodle Forum to elicit responses to readings or your recorded mini-lectures, or to hold discussion. Google Docs can be used for group work – ask students to add you as an editor and check in, answer questions, and provide feedback as they progress.
- Collect assignments digitally. Ask students to submit assignments using the Moodle Assignment tool or Google Assignments.
- Meet virtually. Ask students to sign up for appointments using Google’s Appointment Schedules (video tutorial) and hold virtual office hours using Zoom.
