The Instructional Technology Team is excited to announce the formation of a Reading Group focused on Compassionate and Critical Learning Design! This group will convene four times in the Spring 2023 semester to discuss essays from two anthologies compiled by Hybrid Pedagogy, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing critical digital pedagogy. Faculty and staff from across the college are invited to join us as we collaboratively explore the readings, engage with the critical instructional design process in hands-on, interactive ways, and brainstorm actionable strategies that will support all our students.
Registration is now open at this link.
The anthologies, Toward a Critical Instructional Design and Designing for Care, are fully available online at no cost. In our first session, we will start with Toward A Critical Instructional Design and read the Foreword, Introduction, and “Centering the Margins Through Critical Instructional Design”.
Sessions will be hybrid and will take place in-person in the Advanced Technology Lab in Shain Library and simultaneously on Zoom. Meetings will be held at the following times:
- Thursday, February 23rd, 11:50am – 1:05pm
- Friday, March 3rd, 9:00am – 10:15am
- Friday, March 31st, 9:00am – 10:15am
- Thursday, April 6th, 11:50am – 1:05pm
Participants are welcome to attend some or all sessions. Participants who commit to attending all four sessions in either modality and register before Friday, February 17th can receive physical copies of the texts, budget permitting. All essays from the anthologies are available online for those who plan to attend only some of the sessions.
This opportunity has been funded by a grant from the Connecticut College Center for the Critical Study of Race and Ethnicity (CCSRE).
